Over the years, I've learned to appreciate the natural progression that happens in life. I understand that not everyone can afford a crazy, multi-thousand-dollar detailing setup. Knowing this, I started to offer entry-level pressure washing setups that I would actually enjoy using. That's the key - most stuff out there is just plain junk, and I've done the work to show you what to get.I've always wanted to offer an entry-level polisher, but nothing that was available to me was good. Well, now that we have Griot's Garage, that has changed.
The Griot's Garage G15 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher is the best entry-level polisher. What I appreciate about Griot's Garage is that they're original, and they don't copy from the other big names like Rupes and Flex. The G15 even has some features that the big names don't. For example, I really like the detachable power cord. It makes blowing out pads much easier because I can unplug and walk over to the Tornador without dragging the cord with me.
The polisher also has great ergonomics. The trigger is progressive and has an intuitive lock. The speed dial sits right where your thumb is. Griot's Garage really thought about what a good polisher needs to be, and they delivered. For the price, this thing is legit and manages to pretty much match what the Rupes LHR15 can do, though this isn't quite as smooth.
The G15 has a 5-inch backing plate and a 15mm-throw, meaning the rotation of the packing plate axis is 15mm. You use this for larger, flat areas like door panels, hoods, roofs, etc. For tighter areas, you'll want to get the G13 Polisher from Griot's Garage, which has a 3-inch backing plate.
The G15 Polisher is a very good machine and offers exceptional value. If you want to enter the world of polishing, this is the tool for you.
