Basic - Comet Static 1700 Portable Solution

The Comet Static 1700 Extra is a portable electric pressure washer kit for car washing. It is the mid-tier option in my lineup, between the entry-level and high-end units. In my testing, it measured 975 PSI at 1.90 GPM with a 4.0 nozzle, and we added fittings and accessories to make it work as a portable setup.

I wanted a mid-tier choice next to my entry-level and high-end picks. The Comet fits because it gives you two things. It is reliable in my experience, and it gives you enough flow for car washing.

Why I focus on flow

For washing a car, I prefer more flow over more pressure. I aim for as much flow as I can get at around 1000 PSI. Anywhere from 900 to 1200 PSI works well. You do not need to chase the pressure number. Many people expect 2,000 or 3,000 PSI from a pressure washer, and that is not what I measure in real-world testing.

What I measured in testing

I measured 975 PSI at 1.90 GPM with a 4.0 nozzle. That falls inside my target range for washing a car.

How we made it portable

The Comet is a good unit, and it needed a few changes to work as a portable solution. We solved the main one with fittings and accessories in this kit.

The pump inlet has BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) threads. The unit comes with an adapter that converts BSPP to GHT (garden hose threads), so you can connect a standard hose or one of my inlet hoses.

The adapter made the inlet too long for the inlet hose to fit when the unit sits on the ground. We added a 90-degree elbow to fix that. You do not need to raise the pressure washer on a milk crate. 

Who this is for
