RUPES pads have been a long-time favorite of mine. With so many different options on the market, I’ve decided to go with these because they can withstand the heat and lateral forces that beat up the structural integrity of the foam.
Since they were launched, I’ve been using these pads, and now I have the color codes ingrained in my brain:
- Blue - Heavy Polishing
- Green - Medium
- Yellow - 1 Step or Finishing
- White - Finishing
So, how exactly am I going to use these? The White pad is the one I generally use specifically for finishing. I often use it with Sonax Perfect Finish, Jescar Correcting Compound, or Menzerna 3800.
As much as I like complete sets, I only find the yellow and white pads necessary. Combine those two and a bunch of Meguiar's Microfiber Cutting Pads, and you should be able to tackle most jobs. Sizing can be a bit confusing, so it it works like this:
- 1" and 2" Pads = Fits 1" or 2" backing plate and have 1.5" and 2.25" face
- Use with Nano
These pads are designed to be used with dual action random orbitals, specifically long throw machines. They aren't recommended for rotary or forced rotation.
The DA ULTRAFINE foam pad is our finest grade of foam, designed for ultra-high gloss finishing and polishing haze-prone or very soft paint surfaces. The new unique material composition of the DA ULTRA-FINE pad shows a brighter white color with less propensity for yellowing over time and can also be used for the application of sealants or waxes when no correction is required. Pair it with UNO PURE ultra-fine universal polish to remove extremely fine defects or to bring out a show car level finish on even the most difficult-to-finish and delicate vehicle paints.
