Orange Bench Vise - Obsessed Garage Edition
I know... I know.. not everyone needs a $2,000 bench vise, but you can definitely want a $1500 vise! The story of me discovering Orange Vise Company starts with a follower showing me the "OG Spec" company of vises. Orange Vise Company and their crazy one would say over-engineered CNC machined bench vise, this is without a doubt the most precise and smoothest operating vise I've ever used and probably have ever seen.
The Orange Bench Vise was made for precision assembly applications. The vise cannot be used as an anvil, but if your application calls for precision-machined jaws form-fitted to your parts, with the ability to gradually apply pressure without crushing or scratching the part, the Orange Bench Vise is for you. Another awesome feature is the indexable jaws, which allows the vise to go from 4.75" of clamping capacity to over 12".
The Orange bench vise uses the same dovetailed jaws as the Orange 3-axis CNC machining vises, this also makes it fully cross compatible with CarveSmart jaws.
For mounting the vise you'll need to source your own hardware as I did in the video above. I used 3/8"-16 (8mm or 5/16 drive size) hex socket/cap head bolts, I suggest you take the vise base to the store with you because a different brand of bolt can be a slightly different fit. You should be able to find these at your local hardware store, like Ace Hardware, or online from McMaster-Carr.
