If you are not sure which you need, go with the coating option. Coatings have gotten so good over the past few years that it makes sense to choose them more often than not. Make sure you polish your car before applying coatings so as not to “lock in” any scratches in the paint. When you find yourself doing a one-step polish every year or so, that is a good time to refresh your coating as well. I have a polishing solution and package in the store that you might enjoy.
