Now that I’m a Milwaukee dealer, I get to play with some really cool tools like this paint and detailing color match light. A tool I know will come in handy for many of your paint correction needs. When I got this thing in my hand and tested it out on my Ford Raptor, I told Tommy (our Product Development Director) that I wanted it in the store.
The first thing I noticed when I turned it on was how much brighter the light was than the ScanGrip detailing light. This Match Light has 1000 lumens of output with 98+ color rendering index to reveal metallics and imperfections in the paint. In lamens terms, brighter light and light that mimics natural sunlight are better for the paint correcting process.
I like how this light has a more intuitive selector. Simply press the color or mode button and transition through the different options offered - with the ScanGrip, you’d hold down the button to make your selection. It seems like a small function, but it increases productivity and efficiency from a user experience perspective.
When holding this light, you’ll notice that it’s bulkier/heavier. This can be seen as a negative, but I see it as a positive. Heavy-duty is what I want, and by proxy, it’s what many of you want as well. If I dropped this thing while inspecting the roof of my car, I want to know that it’s going to hold up upon impact. We unintentionally train ourselves over time to work with heavier tools. It’s the name of the game when durability and quality are requisites.
If you don’t own a ScanGrip and already have Milwaukee tools or are deep in the Milwaukee ecosystem, I recommend you get this - it will be a great addition to your array.
I, personally, will own both. I like the ScanGrip because of how much lighter in weight it is and because it works well when inspecting my paint. They both have their advantages and give you options for any paint correction job.
This is a tool-only item. The battery is not included. You'd want the Milwaukee M12™ Battery: REDLITHIUM™ if you don't already own it.
