The Advanced Dynaudio Bookshelf Speaker Solution is our two-channel system, and by two-channel, I mean we have our amplifier in the middle connected to two passive speakers with speaker wire. I think this solution will be a popular option for the majority because it will be more realistic to obtain. The Emits that come in this solution are some killer speakers.
Like we did with our pressure washing solutions, I believe this kit-style package will make life much easier for those of you who want to build out a sick sound system in your garage without the hassle of piecing all of these things together a la carte. All of this audio stuff can appear intimidating, but I promise you, it’s not. This is why Uncle Matty is here to lead and guide you through the purchasing and installation process. You’ll have this all set up in under 5-minutes. Just watch the video above in the photos carousel to see how to put all of this together.
When you’re building your package out, the first thing you will select is your speakers. In this package, I decided to go with the Dynaudio Emits. I absolutely love these things. I’ve discussed these speakers in great detail in my overview and demo video. The warm, rich sound they deliver is unmatched by any other speaker. If you're sensitive to brighter sounds, you’ll want to do like me and live in this Dynaudio world. Because we are using these in a harsh environment (the garage), we want a speaker that will adapt well to this space.
I’ve created a really simple formula here. After picking your speaker (10’s or 20’s), you’d choose your color and then your size. If you’re balling hard, then get the Emit 20s. With this selection, you’re getting a bigger woofer, and if you have the space, these are a no-brainer. The 20s sound better, play lower frequencies, and have more output due to the larger cabinet.
You’ll then move to select the source component (amplifier). We have three options in this package, but you’re not limited to that - you may decide you want to upgrade to the NAD M10 V2 or even something above that; that’s totally fine. The three options here are 1) NAD C368, 2) Bluesound Powernode, and 3) NAD C700.
The combination I like most is the Emit 20s with the NAD C368 amplifier and a Dynaudio Sub 6. Again, it comes down to how much you are willing to spend and how much space you have. This C368 is much bigger than the Powernode and works perfectly with these speakers. It’s a magical setup.
I love all of these source components because of the BlueOS software built into them. You can stream high-res music seamlessly. The amplifier is the player, and your phone is the controller. You can handshake from one room to the other using the BlueOS software. An example would be you’re in your garage jamming out on the C368, but then you move inside your home and want to play off of your Powernode. It’s as simple as making that switch right from the BlueOS app.
I will be supplying you with 50 ft of CI-rated speaker wire and banana plugs. Most of you are going to be setting this up using cabinets. So, you’ll have your speakers on top of the cabinets; you’re going to run your wires behind them. Your source component (amp) will go on the left or right side. I’m thinking 50ft of speaker wire will be sufficient for most applications. If not, it’s inexpensive, and you can just order a longer length.
You’ll have the option to do either a wired setup or a wireless setup for your subwoofer. The wired solution comes with an RCA to XLR connection (cable) that will go into the SUB OUT on your source component while the other end plugs into the Sub 6. You always want to be wired if you have the choice. If you decide to go the wireless route like me, we’re providing you with an OSD Audio Nero Wireless Subwoofer Kit with a Monoprice Single Male to Dual Male - RCA Y-Adapter. The dual male end plugs into the OSD Audio, and the single male end plugs into the SUB OUT on your source component.
You’ll get one transmitter and one receiver. The transmitter is what’s going into the source component. The receiver is what’s going into the subwoofer. We have a video add-on option and brackets available if you decide to mount your speakers on the wall.
If you’re a big music guy or gal, this system is going to give you more output and amplitude.
